Sciatic pain

Sometimes this condition is referred to as Sciatica which basically means pain down the leg. Sciatic pain is the pain produced by irritation or injury to the sciatic nerve root. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body and it supplies a large proportion of legs and feet. Therefore sciatic pain is usually felt in the buttocks, legs or feet.

Osteopathic and Sciatic nerve pain treatment

Sciatic pain relief involves working directly on the structures causing irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve. It is important to remember that nervous tissue takes longer to heal than other tissues in the body and can take approximately 3 months.

Sciatic nerve pain treatment can include stretching, soft tissue massage, trigger point dry needling, manipulation and articulations. Providing your case history and examination does not require referral back to your GP for further investigations, Osteopathy provides safe and effective sciatic pain relief.
